Pallars Sobira (ES) and Alps (FR-IT border) – August 2008

After having a wonderful time on the 4th European Advrider Rally in Sort and having the feeling that there was a lot more to ride in that area. Also, due to the heavy rainfall some river crossings where not possible at that time.
Some weeks after the EAR, I spotted this thread on the ADVRider forum. A guy called Nufenen posted some pictures of locations/river crossings we tried to do on the EAR but were impossible due to too high water. As he told me that he was most likely to spend summer there in that area on a campsite, I answered, first more of a joke, that I would come to visit him and ride some tracks with him there. Luckily, for me, he agreed. And on the first Sunday of August I arrived on the campsite near Llavorsi in the beautiful Spanish Pyrenees (Catalunya, near Andorra).
What followed was a week of splendid tracks, excellent company and real good (real local, not tourist) food! As I was planning a second week in the Alps to finish my off/allroad tour I could only stay for little more than 1 week. Too bad to leave such nice people so soon already! After showing them the locations and some pictures of tracks I was planning to do, one of the next mornings I woke up with them telling me: we are going with you to the Alps!
Again, the second week was very nice! Nice rides, nice company, good food, nice campsites, … What else can you wish for?!
The tracks were some of the famous ones: Col de Someiller (summit at 3009 meters above sea level), Assietta, Varaita-Maira and the norther part of the Ligurian border road.
